Volunteer Information

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”

The success of the Hometown Harvest Fair depends heavily on volunteers. The Festival’s volunteers work tirelessly all year to plan and organize the event and to attract the collective creative talent to it. During the week of the Fair, many additional volunteer roles must be filled, and those who fill them are especially appreciated.

Join Festival participants by inviting your friends to come along and serve alongside you and by helping the neighborhood shine. As many of you know, this is Hightstown’s most anticipated event of the year, and it is because of volunteers like you!

If you volunteer, you can experience the joy that comes from giving of one’s self to the service of others. We’ll even throw in a Hometown Harvest Fair T-shirt.

We would love to welcome you to our volunteer team!

We need help in the following areas:

  • Information Booths:  These volunteers staff the information booths, greet fair patrons, and hand out maps and schedules of the days events.  Great if you’re a people person!  A radio is provided for communication with other Info booths and emergency services. These volunteers generally work 2-3 hour shifts.
  • Town Decoration:  The area of the Fair is adorned with seasonal decor prior to the event.  Scarecrows, hay bales, corn stalks etc. Approximately 2-3 hours.
  • Day of Set up:  These volunteers help coordinate the vendors and other fair participants.  Setup starts at 8am, approximately 2 hours.
  • Day of Clean up:  Trash/litter collection during and after the event. If we keep it clean throughout the day, after cleanup will be a breeze. These volunteers generally work 1-2 hour shifts.
